Measures to increase students' awareness of their perceived stress

Mindfulness Course

Mindfulness is an effective intervention for undergraduate and postsecondary students in reducing depression and anxiety and preventing burnout. This hybrid course, available biannually in person and online, will also be recorded, giving all students, including those enrolled online or at off-campus sites, additional opportunities to participate.

Fitness Fridays

To promote physical fitness and healthy lifestyle choices, LSUHSC-NO will host Fitness Fridays in conjunction with the Wellness Center. On the first Friday of each month, a schedule of events will be offered around fitness, nutrition, mindfulness, and financial wellness. In addition to physical fitness activities supported by the Wellness Center, Fitness Fridays will promote healthy eating options, mental health resources, and financial resources. A Campus Assistance Program counselor will be on hand to discuss mental health support and mindfulness techniques, including stress management strategies, coping skills, and information about ongoing mental health services. Additionally, students can meet with a financial aid counselor for personalized financial guidance, help with scholarship opportunities, understanding loan options, creating a budget, and addressing any questions about financial aid packages.
